This Blade AI Usage Policy (the “AI Usage Policy”) applies to our AI-powered features offered within our Services (the “Blade AI”), including, without limitation, AI-powered cooking guidance, recipe and ingredient assistance, and chat with an AI cooking assistant (the “AI-chat”).
Before you start interacting with our AI-powered features, please carefully review this AI Usage Policy, which is an integral part of our Terms and Conditions of Use. We reserve the right to modify this AI Usage Policy at our discretion from time to time, to the extent permitted by applicable law. By accessing or using any of our AI-powered features, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this AI Usage Policy.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ANY PART OF THIS AI USAGE POLICY, OR IF YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE OR AUTHORIZED TO BE BOUND BY THIS AI USAGE POLICY, THEN DO NOT INTERACT WITH Blade AI.
We rely on third-party service providers to enable Blade AI. Some features may not be available on your device due to technical requirements or compatibility limitations.
1. Your Use of Blade AI
Our AI-powered features are provided “as is”. We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, completeness, reliability, suitability, availability, or performance of these features or any resulting output, nor do we guarantee your satisfaction with the relevant feature.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated outputs.
- AI-generated outputs may contain inaccuracies, errors, or biases. You should use them with caution and apply your own judgment and critical thinking.
- Blade AI may not cover every possible scenario or question. Its capabilities focus on cooking and recipe-related use cases, and you are encouraged to use Blade AI within that intended scope.
- We are not liable for any impact these features may have on your personal life or health, including decisions, outcomes, or emotional responses resulting from your use of AI-generated outputs.
- You are solely responsible for the content you submit to Blade AI and for how you use the outputs.
You acknowledge and agree that your use of the AI-powered features will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, our Terms and Conditions of Use, any other applicable Blade agreements and policies, and any applicable third-party policies, and will not infringe, violate, or misappropriate any of Blade’s rights or the rights of any third party.
Accuracy, biases, and hallucinations
AI models are complex and constantly evolving. Blade AI is built to provide information based on its most up-to-date knowledge. While we make every effort to improve accuracy, you should be aware that Blade AI may not always reflect the most current developments or changes. You are encouraged to verify critical information from reliable sources independently.
- AI models can sometimes generate information that is plausible but incorrect or nonsensical (“hallucinations”).
- AI models are trained on vast datasets that may reflect societal biases. Outputs may therefore be biased or unfair.
- Information provided by AI may not always be up-to-date, complete, or entirely accurate. It should not be treated as a substitute for verified facts or professional advice.
2. Specific Rules for the AI Cooking Assistant
Purpose. The AI-chat feature is designed to offer an engaging and interactive cooking experience — letting you ask about recipes, ingredients, techniques, and substitutions, and interact with an AI cooking assistant that supports you as you cook.
AI cooking assistants within Blade AI are not real individuals. Any advice, opinions, or information they provide is generated by an AI model and should be treated as such. They do not possess genuine emotions, consciousness, or personal experience.
Data. The AI-chat is designed to operate without requiring you to enter personal identifying information. Please do not enter sensitive information (such as your address, financial details, or health data) into the chat. We may analyze automatically collected information about your interaction with the AI-chat (such as frequency of use and feature engagement) to understand how the feature is used, improve its performance, and enhance your overall experience.
Age Restriction. Blade AI features are intended for and available only to users who are 18 years of age or older. By using these features, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
No Training. We use Anthropic’s Claude via API to power our AI-chat. Anthropic has committed that the data you input and the outputs you receive will not be used to train or improve their models. Your conversations are processed to generate responses but are not retained or used by Anthropic for model improvement.
3. Prohibited Use
Blade reserves the right to take appropriate action, including suspension or termination of Blade AI access, in response to any violation of this AI Usage Policy. We do not allow the use of Blade AI for any of the following:
- Illegal activity.
- Child sexual abuse material or any content that exploits or harms children.
- Generating hateful, harassing, or violent content, including promoting hate based on identity; harassing, threatening, or bullying individuals; glorifying or encouraging violence, suffering, or humiliation.
- Malware generation, including code designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a system.
- Activity that has a high risk of physical harm, including weapons development; military or warfare use; managing critical infrastructure (energy, transport, water); promoting or depicting self-harm (e.g., suicide, cutting, eating disorders).
- Activity with a high risk of economic harm, including multi-level marketing, gambling, payday lending, and automated determinations of eligibility for credit, employment, education, or public assistance.
- Fraudulent or deceptive activity, including scams, plagiarism, academic dishonesty, disinformation, spam, fake reviews, astroturfing, or pseudo-pharmaceuticals.
- Adult content, adult industries, and dating services, including sexually explicit material, erotic chat, pornography, or content that promotes sexual services (excluding sex education and wellness).
- Political campaigning or lobbying, including mass or targeted campaign materials, political chatbots, or advocacy tools.
- Processing personal data. You shall not provide Blade AI with your own or a third party’s personal data.
- Activity that violates people’s privacy, including tracking or monitoring an individual without their consent; facial recognition of private individuals; classifying individuals based on protected characteristics; using biometrics for identification; or the unlawful collection or disclosure of personal, educational, or financial records.
- Providing legal advice or practicing law without a qualified review. Blade AI is not a substitute for legal advice.
- Offering tailored financial advice without a qualified review. Blade AI is not designed to provide financial advice.
- Medical claims or advice, including diagnosis, treatment, or triage of health conditions. Blade AI is not intended to provide medical advice, and you should never use it for diagnostic or treatment services.
- High-risk government decision-making, including law enforcement and criminal justice, migration, and asylum.
4. Disclaimer
WE DO NOT OFFER OR PROVIDE ANY KIND OF MEDICAL, NUTRITIONAL, OR DIETARY ADVICE. Blade AI MAY SUGGEST RECIPES, INGREDIENTS, SUBSTITUTIONS, AND COOKING TECHNIQUES, BUT YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THAT ANY INGREDIENT OR DISH IS SAFE AND SUITABLE FOR YOU AND YOUR GUESTS — INCLUDING WITH RESPECT TO ALLERGIES, INTOLERANCES, AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS — AND FOR FOLLOWING SAFE FOOD-HANDLING AND KITCHEN-SAFETY PRACTICES. IF YOU HAVE ANY HEALTH PROBLEM OR DIETARY CONCERN, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN, A REGISTERED DIETITIAN, OR ANOTHER QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL.

5. Privacy and Security
You are responsible for ensuring the security of your devices and accounts. Blade is not liable for any unauthorized access or security breaches that may result from a failure to maintain the security of your personal information.
When interacting with Blade AI, you shall not share personal information, including personal data, passwords, financial details, or confidential information. Blade AI is not designed to handle or store such information. If you encounter any communication that appears to be seeking such information, please report it immediately to support@blade.example.
Conversations with Blade AI may be logged and/or stored beyond the current session for service operation, abuse prevention, and quality improvement, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Limitation of Liability
Blade makes no express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, in respect of Blade AI. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Blade, its affiliates, directors, employees, agents, and representatives shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use Blade AI.
We assume no responsibility for any errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or other deficiencies in Blade AI’s responses. You expressly agree that your use of Blade AI is at your sole risk. We do not warrant that Blade AI will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. In jurisdictions where the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages is not allowed, Blade’s liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. We disclaim any liability for any actions taken or not taken based on information provided by Blade AI. You are responsible for independently verifying critical information and making decisions based on your own judgment.
